Associated Food Stores Offers Taste of Utah in DC

Associated Food Stores brought Utah products to Washington, D.C., on the occasion of Pioneer Day on July 25. The grocery wholesaler, in partnership with Zions Bank and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), held a reception for state representatives and other officials in the nation’s capital. The event spotlighted such Beehive State offerings as Beehive Cheese, Norbest turkey, Red Button Vintage Creamery ice cream, and Beehive Bread and Pastry Co. galettes.

“The Pioneer Day Reception was a great way for us to show how amazing Utah products are and what our producers and growers are literally bringing to the table,” noted Ryan Barnes, deli director for Associated Food Stores, and one of the organizers of the event. “We are grateful to Sen. Lee and his staff for this opportunity and know that everyone there loved it.”

AFS works with more than 50 Utah vendors and farmers to bring the state’s products to grocery stores in eight Intermountain states. These products are called out with specific “local” tags and signs to make it easier for shoppers to find them.

Based in Salt Lake City, AFS provides complete warehouse facilities and services to more than 400 grocers throughout the Intermountain West.
