A&P Launches Online Photo Contest
Taking a cue from the popularity of its line of Elizabeth Haub reusable designer shopping bags, the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. has rolled out the "How Do You Haub?" online photo contest, which will enable a dozen lucky participants to be recognized for their fashion sense as well as their goal to protect the environment.
A noted philanthropist, Haub was the mother of A&P executive chairman Christian Haub.
As the bags can be employed for much more than holding groceries – alternative uses include carrying beach gear, books, toys, and baby care items, the contest will reward whoever comes up with the most unique and creative way to use his or her Haub bag with a grand prize of $1,000 worth of grocery gift cards, valid at any A&P, Pathmark, The Food Emporium, Waldbaum’s or SuperFresh supermarkets.
The contest, which will run for 11 straight weeks, will also include one weekly winner who will receive a $100 grocery gift card.
Shoppers log on to http://clubcard.aptea.com/haubcontest to enter and submit their photos, where they will also be able to view and vote on other entries. One winner will be chosen at the end of each week, and the grand-prize winner will be selected from among the 11 weekly winners and notified on Sept. 29. The winners will receive gift cards and have their photos featured on the A&P Web site.
Elizabeth Haub reusable bags retail for 99 cents each at A&P, Pathmark, The Food Emporium, Waldbaum's, and SuperFresh stores. A portion of the proceeds from bag sales go to The Elizabeth Haub Foundation (EHF), an organization with the mission of enforcing environmental laws worldwide.
A&P operates 447 stores in eight states and the District of Columbia under the following bannrs: A&P, Waldbaum's, Pathmark, Best Cellars, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh, and Food Basics.
