Amigos United Hosting Free Health Fair
For the fourth consecutive summer, United Supermarkets’ Amigos United banner will host its semi-annual health fair as part of its commitment to helping guests shop smarter and eat healthier.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 at the Amigos locations in Lubbock, Amarillo and Plainview. All activities are open to the public free of charge.
“At this year’s health fair, we are providing guests with personal health information and tips on how to improve basic health,” said Robin Hawkins, director of health and wellness for United.
Pharmacy team members will be on hand to provide shoppers blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol checks. Additionally, dietitians will host a table to calculate body mass index (BMI), assess body fat percentage and provide education on healthy weights.
Guests will also have the opportunity to meet with a NuVal champion regarding the NuVal Nutritional Scoring System, which was designed to help guests make more nutritious food choices by rating all foods and beverages on a scale of one to 100 based on a variety of nutritional factors. Guests can find the NuVal score in stores on many shelf price tags.
Lubbock, Texas-based United Supermarkets operates 57 stores under four distinct formats: United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos and United Express.
