Albertsons and Universal Music Produce CD for Breast Cancer Awareness

BOISE, Idaho -- For the third consecutive year, national grocer Albertsons here and Santa Monica, Calif.-based Universal Music Special Markets have together created a promotional music CD for a National Breast Cancer Awareness Month promotion October.

The CD, titled Songs For Life, is available at Albertsons during the promotion, and includes songs from singers such as Elton John, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Bryan Adams, Vanessa Williams, Natalie Cole, and Mariah Carey. The CD will be available from September 25 through October 31.

To get the CD, consumers must purchase three participating brand products from any Albertsons, Sav-on, Jewel-Osco, Osco Drug, Shaws, or ACME Market, and then mail the register receipt with a completed music CD request form available at the Songs For Life in-store display.

Supporting partners and their participating brands include Kimberly-Clark (Huggies, Scott Towels, Kleenex, Kotex), Pfizer (Listerine, Lubriderm, Benadryl, Sudafed, Visine), Clorox, and Newman's Own salad dressing. As part of the promotion, Albertsons will make a $100,000 donation to breast cancer research, bringing its total donation to the program to date to $500,000.

The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) program is dedicated to increasing awareness of breast cancer issues, especially the importance of early detection of breast cancer through screening mammography, clinical breast examination, and, for women 20 years of age and older, breast self-examination.
