Ahold's $1.1 Billion Settlement Draws Over 173,000 Shareholder Claims
AMSTERDAM -- Royal Ahold NV here has reportedly received more than 173,000 claims from shareholders after its $1.1 billion settlement in the wake of a massive accounting scandal.
The claims administrator, Dutch shareholder association VEB, also extended the claims deadline to Sept. 15, according to published reports
The settlement arose after those who owned shares during period of profit overstatement demanded compensation when the value of those shares plummeted once the scandal broke.
