Ahold Delhaize Marks 1 Year Since Merger
On the occasion of the first anniversary of the merger that led to the formation of Ahold Delhaize, the Amsterdam-based retail conglomerate has released a celebratory video, as well as an infographic noting its achievements over the past 12 months.
According to the infographic, Ahold Delhaize, which now consists of 6,500 stores under 21 banners across 11 countries, at which 50 million customers shop every week, is recycling 72 percent of its total food waste and has donated 50,000 tons of food to hunger relief organizations, among other milestones.
On the ecommerce front, its businesses have 8 million online customers able to retrieve grocery orders at 484 pickup points, leading to 2.3 billion euros in online sales.
When it comes to own brands, Ahold Delhaize has attained an average penetration of 45 percent, and has set a goal of 45 percent healthy own-brand food sales by 2020.
The company also shared such significant moves as the creation of Retail Business Services to support its U.S. brands, and noted that it was on track to deliver 500 million euros in synergies in 2019.
The video (shared below), meanwhile, portrays Ahold Delhaize’s diverse associates, various products and meaningful community activities across its banners, while delivering an upbeat general message about its accomplishments so far, facilitated by its Better Together strategy.
