Advantage Logistics Tapped to Operate Second Atkins Nutritionals Facility
MINNEAPOLIS - Atkins Nutritionals Inc. today announced it has awarded Advantage Logistics Inc. the operation of its strategically located Atlanta distribution center. The contract represents the second Atkins site to be awarded to Advantage Logistics.
The latest agreement calls for Advantage Logistics to provide third-party logistics services, including warehouse and transportation management, for the Atkins Atlanta facility beginning this month. The Atlanta site is one of three key locations in Atkins' nationwide network from which the Atkins line of foods and nutritional products are distributed to the retail market.
In October of 2003, Atkins chose Advantage Logistics to manage its new Aurora, Colo., distribution center.
"Our Atlanta facility is strategic to our supply chain operations, serving our customers throughout the southeastern United States. Advantage Logistics, with its knowledge of our operations, further enables us to meet the escalating demand for our products by efficiently and cost effectively managing this facility, in addition to our Denver location," said Norm Stafford, s.v.p., customer support operations for Atkins.
Advantage Logistics president Rick Finkbeiner said, "We are extremely pleased to expand our relationship with Atkins by adding their Atlanta facility to our customer base. It gives us the opportunity to build on our proven expertise in transportation and warehouse management to quickly bring this facility on line, resulting in increased efficiencies for Atkins throughout its supply chain."
Advantage Logistics, based in Minneapolis, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Supervalu Inc. The company provides a full range of third-party logistics services to both retailers and manufacturers.
