Acme Fresh Market, a regional grocery store chain with locations throughout northeast Ohio, is among the latest merchants to become a member of Merchant Customer Exchange, a group of leading merchants that offers a customer-focused, secure mobile payment solution.
The addition of Acme “underscores the appeal of MCX to merchants of all sizes and across all categories,” said MCX CEO Dekkers Davidson.
Additionally, the company is adding Paydiant’s cloud-based, white-label platform to its custom-developed mobile commerce infrastructure. Paydiant’s technology will enable MCX members to leverage existing smartphones, point of sale (POS) and payment terminals. Including an easy-to-implement application programming interface (API) to enable members to integrate complete mobile wallet capabilities and value-added services into their own branded iPhone and Android applications, the solution will also allow retailers to avoid sharing sensitive customer information with third parties.
“Paydiant adds unique mobile wallet capabilities and proven retail experience that seamlessly complements MCX’s existing technology platform,” noted Davidson.
“Mobile payments and offers are a critical customer touchpoint for merchant brands,” added Kevin Laracey, CEO and founder of Wellesley, Mass.-based Paydiant, who observed that working together, the companies could “remove the primary obstacles that retailers can face when adopting a mobile payments infrastructure by providing members with greater control over the customer experience. As a result, merchants can engage their customers with the convenience of mobile payments, along with personalized offers, promotions and programs that build customer loyalty and increase share of wallet.”
MCX’s owner-members include major players in the big-box, convenience, pharmacy, fuel, grocery, quick- and full-service dining, specialty retail, and travel categories. The company operates from offices in Dallas, Texas, and Boston.
