Zevia Experiences Twitter ‘Takeover’

To further its mission of helping soda drinkers reduce their consumption of artificial sweeteners, stevia-sweetened carbonated beverage brand Zevia had actor Max Greenfield “take over” its Twitter page for four hours on the afternoon April 26, during which he shared thoughts and answered questions honestly, paralleling Zevia’s “nothing fake” profile.

“I can promise you that my tweets will have no artificial flavoring or ingredients,” said Greenfield, best known for his television roles on “Veronica Mars,” “Ugly Betty” and “New Girl,” in advance of the virtual event, at which he was joined by Zevia CEO Paddy Spence.

“We are removing the artificiality from everyday situations in hopes of inspiring soda drinkers to reduce the amount of artificial sweeteners that they drink,” explained Spence, who gave up sugar 12 years ago, around the time he began running more than 40 triathlons and training in mixed martial arts. “Max is known for saying what’s on his mind and is a huge star in the making – we aspire to be both of these things.”

The first brand focused exclusively on all-natural, zero-calorie soda sweetened with stevia, Culver City, Calif.-based Zevia is projecting 80 percent sales growth in 2012. The company recently added Cherry Cola, Lime Cola and Strawberry to its existing portfolio.
