Yoke’s Foods Buys Trading Company Stores

Yoke’s Food Inc., based in Spokane, Wash., has purchased Trading Company Stores' four locations in Post Falls, Idaho, and Spokane Valley, Latah and Cheney, Wash. Last year, the employee-owned Yoke’s also purchased the Haggen store in Liberty Lake, Wash. This latest acquisition brings the number of Yoke’s locations to 17.

"Yoke's has been proud to call the Inland Northwest home for more than 70 years," said John Bole, president and CEO of Yoke's in a local news story. "We look forward to bringing Yoke's unique offerings to the communities served by the Trading Company stores."

Trading Company Stores was founded by Paul Matejovski and Gary Morgan, who opened their first store in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, in 1994. The partners also purchased Tidyman’s locations in 2006.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is expected to close in September and Matejovsky attributed the sale to his and Morgan’s ages, according to local news reports.

Yokes is holding two hiring fairs for Trading Company employees to apply for jobs within the chain.
