World Tour by SIAL Set for Paris
SIAL Paris is marking 50 years of trade show history, as the group gears up for its 2014 Show slated for Oct. 19-23 in Paris-Nord Villepinte.
Billed as “the World Tour by SIAL,” the 2014 edition will explore what’s happening in the food trade in 28 countries. Specifically, SIAL’s organizers will focus on seven trends: the drive (an e-commerce version of food); the price war; the valorization of market areas (enhancing the value of specific store departments, such as produce, bakery and meat); smartshopping (using smartphones); the hard discount trend and whether it’s at the end of an era; globalization of trade; and the AmazonFresh phenomenon.
Twenty-eight journalists from around the world, coordinated by teams from SIAL, will reveal major retail and consumption trends that are shaping world markets, including Australia, Canada, Brazil, Russia, the United States, India and China, among others.
As part of the show, SIAL Paris and Leaders Club International are organizing a “Trendtour” in Paris on Oct. 22, in which participants will visit the city's most innovative foodservice concepts. For more information, e-mail [email protected].
Meanwhile, SIAL and MMM will host a “journey to the heart of Parisian gourmet” on Oct. 24. This half-day program will include visits and tastings in specialized settings. Registration is limited to eight. Contact Juliette Portalier at [email protected] for more information.
