Woodman’s Expands Online Ordering to Milwaukee

Woodman’s Markets has expanded its online ordering and delivery service to its Milwaukee-area stores. The chain first launched the service in Madison seven months ago, where it has served several thousand customers and seen basket sizes six times larger than the average in-store purchase, the company said.

The competitive Milwaukee market is one reason the Oak Creek, Menomonee Falls and Waukesha stores now allow customers to order items online for pick-up in-store or delivery to their doors, according to Clint Woodman, president of the 16-store chain based in Janesville, Wis.

“The success of that we're doing something right – that this is something our customers want,” said Woodman. “I'm very excited about and how it can grow moving forward.” The service, Woodman added, “allows us to really differentiate from our competitors while providing excellent service to our customers."

Renowned for its everyday low prices, Woodman's was the first grocery store in Wisconsin to offer UPC scan registers in 1975. It was also among the first 24-hour food retailers, as well as a pioneer with the development of an employee-owned business model. The 16-store retailer's latest innovation,, is powered in partnership with GrocerKey, a local Madison startup.
