WiseWay Food Centers Installs New Store and HQ Automation
MERRILVILLE, Ind. - Community-based independent WiseWay Food Centers said yesterday it completed the installation of new in-store and headquarters systems at all seven of its stores.
The retailer selected StoreNext Retail Technologies LLC to upgrade its in-store technology with a rollout of Retalix HQ and Retalix Store back-office solutions. WiseWay Food Centers uses Retalix's Category Analyzer and Design-R-Labels products.
"The level of information we can pass to our stores and merchandisers with Retalix Store and HQ impressed us," said Nancy Camp, v.p. of finance and administration at WiseWay. "The fact that these are Windows-based databases also was important."
According to Guy Toczek, WiseWay's director of IT, the Category Analyzer tool helped convert three years of historical and current data into easy-to-read reports for merchandisers -- and the response from them has been uniformly positive.
"We have very talented buyers at WiseWay and the information from Retalix HQ, Retalix Store and Category Analyzer is invaluable to them," said Toczek. "The combination of these applications allows us to be proactive instead of reactive with our promotions, since we are able to process relevant data so quickly. We pull information such as units sold, impact of item movement on gross margin, and other data on a daily basis now and our invoices at the backdoor are much more accurate than before."
The project began with Retalix HQ in February 2006 and all of the headquarters' applications were completed within four weeks.
Retalix Store is a complete direct store delivery (DSD), price management, and inventory control solution for independent grocers. It was developed to help improve a retailer's profitability through improved price accuracy; consistent price image; greater vendor and merchandise delivery control; and reduced labor for store-level inventory and pricing.
Retalix HQ is a centralized pricing and inventory management solution for retail chain headquarters. It provides centralized control of item, vendor, and store information, automated price generation, business process management, and price changes.
