Winn-Dixie Opens First Kosher Deli
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Winn-Dixie Stores here opened its first kosher deli yesterday in Aventura, a Miami suburb, according to a report in the Miami Herald.
The store, at 20417 Biscayne Blvd., features a deli supervised by the Orthodox Union, plus the largest selection of kosher products available at any Winn-Dixie store.
To celebrate the opening, the grocery chain held a ceremony at 9 a.m., including a store blessing by Rabbi Barry Konovitch of Aventura-Turnberry Jewish Center. The deli is just part of an complete makeover for the Aventura store, which had been closed for several years. The 35,922-square-foot store also includes typical amenities like a sushi bar, seafood department, bakery, and adjacent liquor store.
