Willy Street Co-op Donates $25K

Willy Street Co-op, with two locations in Madison and Middleton, Wis., has donated $25,000 to a variety of local projects that submitted proposals in the following areas: food justice and access, cooperatives, sustainable agriculture, health and well-being, and/or social change.

“All of the applications we received were from groups that are doing work that matters in our community,” says Anya Firszt, general manager at Willy Street Co-op. “Ultimately we chose a few organizations that really embodied what we stand for: wholesome food and nurturing spirits.”

Thirty organizations applied for a total of more than $103,000 in funds, creating a more competitive field than in previous years. Since the Community Reinvestment Fund began in 1992, Willy’s Street Co-op has donated more than $342,000. The money is granted to nonprofits and/or cooperatives that carry out innovative projects that benefit the Madison/Middleton area.
