Wegmans Employees Busted for Drug Peddling at Work

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Four bakery associates at a Wegmans supermarket in Gates, N.Y. were arrested late last week for allegedly selling drugs to their co-workers during store hours.

According to published reports, Wegmans informed authorities about the workers several months ago, after other employees grew suspicious that illegal activity was going on. The suspects were taken into custody after selling drugs to undercover operatives. According to police, two of the arrested associates sold marijuana, while the other two sold cocaine.

Wegmans issued the following statement the day after the arrests: "Wegmans, like most companies, has a zero tolerance for drugs. We have a responsibility to our employees to provide a drug-free workplace and a responsibility to our customers to do what's right."
