Walmart, Whole Foods Win Supply Chain Award
Wal-Mart Food Stores Inc. and Whole Foods Market have been named among the award winners of the 2016 Supply Chains to Admire research by Supply Chain Insights LLC. Now in its third year, the analysis is a study of supply chain improvement and performance while defining which companies created the greatest value for shareholders. According to the researcher, this is an elite group representing just 12 percent of the companies studied.
Besides Walmart and Whole Foods, which won in the Mass Merchants and Grocery Retail categories, respectively, award recipients included L’Oréal S.A. in Beauty; The Clorox Co. in Household Products; and CVS Pharmacy and Dollar Tree Inc. also in Mass Merchants. Among the finalists were The Coca-Cola Co., The Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. and The Hershey Co.
“Supply chain leaders are competitive,” noted Lora Cecere, founder of Philadelphia-based Supply Chain Insights. “They want to drive supply chain improvement and outperform competitors while driving value. However, this is easier said than done. … It is our hope that this research can help companies to align to improve total shareholder returns shareholder performance.”
Several of the winners will speak at the fourth annual Supply Chain Insights Global Summit, slated for Sept. 7-9 at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz.
