Wal-Mart Offers Recyclable Shopping Bags
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is the latest retailer to join the eco-bag trend, starting this weekend to offer recyclable cloth shopping bags as part of a focus on more eco-friendly practices.
The black bags in the program feature the slogan, "Paper or Plastic? Neither." They will be available near checkout counters at a price tag of $1.
Plans for the new shopping bags were unveiled last week after Wal-Mart held a daylong "sustainability summit" near its headquarters.
Wal-Mart c.e.o. H. Lee Scott told suppliers gathered at the event that sustainability "is here to stay," according to reports.
