Wal-Mart April Same-store Sales Jump 6.8 Percent
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores here said yesterday it met its recently raised forecast for April same-store sales growth with help from brisk Easter sales of toys, games, and candy.
The retailer's same-store sales were up 6.8 percent for the period.
Wal-Mart's U.S. stores saw same-store sales rise 7.3 percent. Sam's Clubs same-store sales were up 3.8 percent, which was below the 4.6 percent analyst expectation.
The company expects a same-store sales increase in a range of 2 percent to 4 percent for May.
