VG's Food and Pharmacy Cited As 'Policyholder of the Year'

VG's Food and Pharmacy has been named Accident Fund Insurance Co. of America's Policyholder of the Year for its commitment to keeping workers as safe as possible on the job.

The Lansing, Mich.-based VG's has reduced its losses by almost 100 percent since the relationship began about 10 years ago. With 17 stores and 2,300 employees in the mid-Michigan area, VG's Food and Pharmacy is Accident Fund's third policyholder to receive the award.

Lisa VanGilder, VG's president, said the award is a direct reflection of her organization's "unwavering commitment to risk-management, which is a testament to our receiving this award."

In explaining VG's as policyholder of the year, Al Gileczek, Accident Fund v.p., said the firm looks for companies that have made a strong commitment to the prevention of workplace injuries while focusing on getting injured employees cared for and back to work as quickly as possible after a workplace incident. "VG's stands out as an employer that truly cares about providing their employees with a safe workplace," added Gileczek.
