Vallarta Adopts New Scales, Recipe Management Software
California grocery chain Vallarta Supermarkets has implemented systems to better manage scales and also centrally manage its recipe database.
The grocer partnered with Tampa, Fla.-based Applied Data Corp. (ADC), which provides data-management solutions for grocers, to implement InterScale Scales Manager and NutriGen Recipe Manager software. They make up two of the four systems that comprise InterStore, ADC's integrated fresh item management software suite, the other two being the P-Cubed Production Manager and the M-Squared Meat Manager.
InterScale manages the data being sent to and from barcode labeling scales, including change batch creation and management, performing network tests and reloading scales with item price and food safety information. Additionally, it retrieves labeling totals, to determine what items have been produced in the stores. Vallarta selected it to replace an old system, as the grocer sought an integrated solution to address all of its fresh department needs.
NutriGen Recipe Manager, in addition to centrally managing recipes, automatically generates accurate ingredient, allergen and nutritional labeling information. It also derives the true cost of prepared foods.
Sylmar, Calif.-based Vallarta Supermarkets operates 49 stores throughout California and employs approximately 8,000 associates.
