Utah Grocers Raise $30K for Cystic Fibrosis
Lin’s, Dan’s, Dick’s Market and Fresh Market raised more than $30,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation during an icon drive held June 3-27 at 31 locations across Utah. Customers were asked to donate $1 during checkout and this year’s total nearly doubled the amount raised during last year’s inaugural event.
“This donation not only allows us to continue our research, but also create new tomorrows for those individuals, including children, living with Cystic Fibrosis,” said Laura Hadley, executive director of the Utah Idaho Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Chapter. The money raised will be used to fund research for new medications and treatment options for the progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections, limiting the ability to breathe over time. It is estimated that 30,000 Americans have the disease.
