Unified Western Grocers Selects viaLink's Data Synchronization Service

The viaLink Company today announced that Unified Western Grocers, Inc., the largest retailer-owned grocery wholesaler in the Western United States, has selected viaLink's syncLink service to synchronize product, price and promotion data with its trading partners.

``Data synchronization can help UWG streamline the communication of product, price and promotional information with its trading partners,'' said Phil Smith, senior
vice president of Procurement, at Unified Western Grocers. ``Synchronized data improves operational efficiency by reducing transactional mismatches and invoice
deductions and is a foundation for a successful e-commerce strategy.''

Unified Western Grocers, Inc. is a retailer-owned wholesale grocery cooperative that supplies independent retailers throughout the Western United States and
Hawaii. Unified and its subsidiaries, which generated approximately $3 billion in sales during the 2000 fiscal year, offer independent retailers all the resources they
need to compete in today's supermarket industry.
