Tops Revives Double Give Backs for Education Program
Tops Markets LLC has brought back Double Give Back days as part of its Tops in Education program for the entire month of February. Through Feb. 28, shoppers registered for the program will earn twice the points when Tops brand products – which also include Full Circle, TopCare, Tippy Toes, Paws, Value Time and Best Yet – are bought using a registered Tops BonusPlus card.
Also during February, shoppers will now earn twice the reward each time they purchase single-serve bottles or multipacks of Tops brand water.
To enroll in Tops in Education for the 2016-17 school year, a shopper can register her Tops BonusPlus card online, designating as many as three schools teaching grades K-12 to receive funds. Shoppers previously enrolled in the program must re-enroll for the current school year to continue their participation. When shoppers buy Tops brand products, a percentage of the proceeds is donated to the schools the shopper has designated, proportionate to the customer’s spending on any of a range of Tops private brands, up to 5 percent of the total purchase.
“Tops in Education helps our shoppers support the youth of their communities,” noted Kathleen Allen, the grocer’s senior manager community relations. “This program fulfills a promise to our shoppers, a promise that helps them receive a fantastic value while helping provide funding to educational programs in the towns that we serve.”
Currently midway through its fifth school year, Tops in Education has aided more than 1,065 schools throughout its market area. Since 2012, the program has raised more than $540,000.
Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops operates 172 supermarkets, with five additional stores run by franchisees under the Tops banner. The grocer employs more than 15,000 associates in New York, northern Pennsylvania, western Vermont and north central Massachusetts.
