Tops Opening 6 Stores
Tops Markets LLC will debut six stores under its banner this week. Five of the stores are in New York, in the towns of Rhinebeck, New Paltz, Wappingers Falls, LaGrangeville and Carmel, and one is in Gardner, Mass
Tops acquired the former Stop & Shop and Hannaford Supermarkets stores in July, when Ahold and Delhaize divested a total of 86 locations ahead of their merger.
When announcing the acquisition, Frank Curci, chairman and CEO of Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops, said the stores would be closed for approximately 36 hours to transition them to the Tops banner. "After that, for both our customers and us, it will be business as usual.”
Customers at the newly converted stores will have their prescriptions automatically transferred to Tops Pharmacy, receive a fuel card that will earn them additional savings when they buy gas, and get access to an enhanced Sunday-through-Saturday ad circular. Further, former Stop & Shop customer loyalty cards will be linked automatically to the Tops BonusPlus card, while former Hannaford customers will each receive a Tops BonusPlus card by mail.
The stores will open at 7:00 a.m. on the dates on the following dates, and will be open 24 hours henceforward: Gardner, Mass., Aug. 23; Rhinebeck, N.Y., Aug. 24; New Paltz, N.Y., Aug. 25, Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Aug. 26; LaGrangeville, N.Y., Aug. 27; and Carmel, N.Y.; Aug. 28.
