Tops Markets Debuts New Stores in Rochester, N.Y.
Tops Friendly Markets hosted grand-opening celebrations this week at its two newest New York locations in Walworth (new construction) and Lyons (post-acquisition remodel), which are part of the Williamsville, N.Y.-based retailer's ongoing capital investment in the greater Rochester area and which increases Tops’ three-state network to a total of 164 stores.
Including these projects and those completed over the past three years, Tops has invested more than $25 million in upstate New York's Monroe and Wayne counties to create an improved shopping experience for shoppers, according to company officials.
“When the opportunity to operate in these two neighborhoods became an option for us, we knew that Tops would be a perfect fit,” said Frank Curci, Tops’ president and CEO. “The Walworth and Lyons communities are unique, and we have designed these stores to reflect the history and personality of the surrounding areas.”
The 42,674-square-foot Walworth store and 20,134-square-foot Lyons location are more compact formats that the company says provide "a true neighborhood atmosphere," while boasting Tops' new modern look and feel via full-service supermarkets offering fresh options in deli, bakery, floral, meat and seafood, and prepared foods, as well as a wide variety of local, national and Tops brand grocery items.
Both locations include gasoline and fuel rewards through Tops’ GasPoints program. Additionally, customers who use their BonusPlus cards when shopping at Tops earn points on qualifying grocery and pharmacy purchases. Shoppers earn one gas BonusPoint for every dollar they spend and receive $.10 discount off per gallon of gas, with no limit in the amount of points they can earn.
