Through the Mill

Spurred by overwhelming customer demand, Bob’s Red Mill is now offering corn products in gluten- and casein-free versions. A serving of the Milwaukie, Ore.-based company’s stone-ground Gluten Free Cornmeal provides 33 of the 48 grams of whole grains recommended daily by the USDA, and is rich in fiber and antioxidants, which promote good heart and digestive health. Gluten Free Corn Grits, also known as polenta, boasts many of the same health benefits as cornmeal. Also now available are Gluten Free Corn Flour and Gluten Free Masa Harina Corn Flour, with additional gluten-free products are in the works this year, according to Bob’s Red Mill founder Bob Moore. The suggested retail prices for a 24-ounce bag are $2.99 for the Gluten Free Cornmeal; $3.49 for the Gluten Free Corn grits and the Gluten Free Corn Flour; and $3.99 for the Gluten Free Masa Harina.
