Tesco to Open More Stores in Thailand
BANGKOK - The U.K.'s leading supermarket operator Tesco PLC plans to raise its total number of hypermarkets in Thailand from 33 to 50 by 2004, a top executive said today, Dow Jones reports.
Tesco Chief Executive Terry Leahy said the company was continuing to study its entry into China and Japan but wouldn't hurry a decision.
The retailer is opening its first store in Malaysia next week and plans to have up to four stores there by the year-end, Leahy said.
