Tesco bets on Vegas
LONDON -- UK retail giant Tesco is scouting sites in Vegas for its Fresh & Easy supermarkets.
According to published reports, Tesco registered its two Stateside subsidiaries -- Tesco Stores West and Tesco Stores Holdings -- in the state of Nevada, as well as in California and Arizona.
Reuters reported that industry members speculate the retailer plans to open 100 outlets in its first year in southern California, and that 20 stores are planned for the Las Vegas area. Tesco is still mum on its American plans.
