Tadych’s Econofoods Named Wisconsin Grocer of the Year

Wisconsin Grocers Association has named Tadych’s Econofoods its 2015 WGA Grocer of the Year. Owner Jim Tadych has been in the grocery business for more than 45 years and was honored for his commitment to his stores’ communities. Tadych’s has locations in Brillion, Clintonville and Sturgeon Bay,Wis., and Iron Mountain, Marquette and Houghton, Mich.

“Future success in our business, like any other business, requires the right people, the right products, the right services and a quality distribution center,” Tadych said. “That is where we are today and will continue to be for years to come.”

Tadych began working in the industry in 1968 in a small T&C Market in Brillion, Wis. Ten years later, he purchased a second store and built another location. Tadych’s Econofoods provides its customers of Northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with a “one-stop shop.”

This year also marked the 30th anniversary of the annual Tadych’s Econofoods/T&C Market Golf Outing for the vendor community, with more than 225 vendor participants this year. Throughout the years, Tadych Econofoods has contributed more than $1 million to local community programs, like Shop with a Cop, Boys and Girls Club, United Way and the YMCA.

Along with Jim, Tadych Econofoods is managed by his two sons, Mike, president, and Marc, VP, as well as his brothers Dave, GM, Jerry, who retired as meat department supervisor in 2012, and nephew Jon, who is the grocery manager in Iron Mountain.

Tadych Econofoods was nominated for the award by Larry Syring of SpartanNash.
