Supervalu Names Kemp Eastern Region President

MINNEAPOLIS -- With the finalization of its portion of the Albertsons acquisition weeks away, Supervalu here named company veteran Kevin Kemp as new president of its Eastern region.

In his new post, Kemp will oversee Supervalu's Eastern region, which serves independent grocers throughout the eastern United States through its distribution centers in Perryman, Md., Harrisburg, Pa.; and Mechanicsville, Va.

Most recently v.p. of supply chain services, Kemp began his career in the grocery industry in 1990 at Wetterau, Inc. after spending nearly 10 years in public accounting. Following Supervalu's acquisition of Wetterau two years later, Kemp became division controller in the company's Easton division. From 1995 to 2000, he served as v.p. of finance, first in the company's New England region and then in the Southeast region.

Following that assignment, Kemp was named category management v.p. for the Southeast region and in 2002, was named v.p. of logistics for the Northern and Northwest regions.

Supervalu is expected to make several other divisional announcements shortly.
