Supervalu Launches Integrated Mobile Apps
Following a successful pilot at its Cub Food stores this past November, Supervalu has launched a custom-built mobile application it developed to give customers the tools they need to be efficient while shopping its stores.
“As our customers continue to be crunched for time, this new app and its capabilities allow for a more hassle-free shopping experience,” said Kat Kozitza, Supervalu’s director of digital and social media. “Customers of our 1,100 retail locations can now find a store close to them, view the current weekly ad and manage a shopping list all from their mobile device.”
One of the unique features is the app is its synchronization with Supervalu’s banner web sites. The shopping list is synchronized with the web site in real time so a member of the family can update the list from home while another is shopping.
The mobile application is available for use on all Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) and Android devices (phones and tablets). It’s now available in the Apple App Store and the Android Market, and the Amazon Android Market.
Supervalu operates under nine retail brands including: Acme, Albertsons, Cub Foods, Farm Fresh, Hornbacher’s, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s/Star Market, Shop ‘n Save and Shoppers Food & Pharmacy.
Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Supervalu serves customers across the United States through a network of approximately 4,300 stores composed of 1,104 traditional retail stores, including 798 in-store pharmacies; 1,309 hard-discount stores, of which 922 are operated by licensee owners; and 1,900 independent stores serviced primarily by the company's traditional food distribution business.
