Supervalu Installs Money Machine 2 Coin Counters

Supervalu Inc. has installed Cummins Allison's Money Machine 2 self-service coin counters across multiple store locations in Maryland, Missouri, Illinois and Virginia.

“With these new machines we are able to provide an easier, more convenient coin counting service to our customers," said Mike Witt, VP of center store merchandising for Supervalu. “We’re pleased to be working with Cummins Allison and look forward to seeing the reaction of customers using these new counters.”

Said Jim Weaks, VP for Cummins Allison, “The success of self-service coin redemption is not only dependent upon the accuracy, speed and quality of the equipment but also on the flexibility of the provider.

“Our self-service coin programs offer a new alternative for grocers who wish to continue to offer coin-counting services in their stores, but are looking for different choices in a coin redemption program," he said.

Minnesota-based Supervalu operates a network of 3,360 stores composed of 1,832 primary stores serviced by the company’s food distribution business; 1,333 Save-A-Lot stores, of which 911 are operated by licensee owners; and 195 traditional retail grocery stores.
