Supervalu Foundation Donates $10K in Honor of Knowlan’s Super Markets

Supervalu Foundation has donated $10,000 to the Second Harvest Heartland in honor of Knowlan’s Super Markets.

The donation celebrates the fifth year in a row that Knowlan’s was named Minnesota Grown 2016 Retailer of the Year for its commitment to sourcing products from local farmers and food producers. The family-owned retailer, which operates six Festival Foods stores and two Knowlan’s Fresh Food Stores in the Twin Cities region, has been selling locally grown food for more than 100 years.

“We are thrilled to be recognized with the Supervalu Foundation award for our ongoing dedication to Minnesota food producers,” said Lauri Youngquist, Knowlan’s owner, president and CEO. “Since the beginning, our mission has always been to offer our customers the freshest selection of local produce.”

The Supervalu Foundation provides program-specific and general operating support for organizations in the Twin Cities metro area. The Minnesota Grown Retailer of the Year award is given annually to four retailers that excel at promoting Minnesota foods and focus on local food sources and suppliers.
