Sunflower Farmer's Market Plants 8th Unit in Colorado

Sunflower Farmers Market said it will open its newest store October 22 in Arvado, Colo. its eighth in the state and 19th overall. "Our customers in Colorado are like an extended part of the Sunflower family," said Sunflower c.e.o. and founder Mike Gilliland, who, as is customary with the chain, will be at the grand opening to greet and help cook for shoppers. "[We are] growing our Sunflower family in Colorado and making our grocery store concept accessible to residents across the entire state."

The grand opening will be a daylong event and will include free breakfast items, local entertainers, and an on-site barbeque through 6 p.m. with free samples of all-natural Harris Ranch beef. Guests can also receive free chair massages starting at noon, and for kids there will be an activity tent with arts and crafts and cooking.

In celebration of its new Arvada and recently-opened Aurora locations, Sunflower will give away 10,000 Pink recyclable bags at both locations. Additional Pink grocery bags are available for 99 cents, and bag sales will benefit the Project Angel Heart organization.

Sunflower, founded in 2002, currently operates stores in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah. The chain will launch in Texas in November.
