Sucret’s ‘ICE’ Challenge Fires Kids’ Concern for Environment

As the weather cools down, Sucret’s is getting youngsters to think about the North Pole as more than just the location of Santa’s workshop. The cough- and sore-throat-relief brand’s “Save the Polar ICE Caps! Challenge,” which is being co-sponsored by Twentieth Century Fox, invites kids ages 6 to 13 to enter a drawing and brief message illustrating how they would save polar ice caps from melting away due to climate change.

Children can submit their drawing and message at www.SucretsICEChallenge.com or by mail through Dec. 23. The site also offers activities teachers can use to help children learn more about preserving the earth’s polar regions, and links to environmental organizations.

“This contest has an educational tie that gets kids thinking about what they can do to help save the environment — and can be their way of ‘giving back’ this holiday season,” notes Sucret’s, a brand of Langhorne, Pa.-based Insight Pharmaceuticals Corp. and the maker of kid-friendly Sucret’s ICE pops, whose packaging features characters from the “Ice Age” movie franchise.

The grand prize will be a visit to the winner’s school by an animator from Fox’s Blue Sky Studios, animators of the movie “Ice Age 3,” which is now available on Blu-Ray and DVD.
