Stop & Shop Running Blood Pressure Campaign for Heart Health Month

QUINCY, Mass. -- The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. here has teamed with Omron, a manufacturer of home blood pressure kits, and pharmaceutical manufacturer Novartis, for "Know Your Numbers" campaign, which provides consumers with information on the importance of controlling and monitoring their blood pressure. The program will take place at all Stop & Shop pharmacies throughout February, which is Heart Health Month.

During the month, in addition to health education literature and product coupons to help control blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease, free blood pressure clinics will be offered at select Stop & Shop pharmacies. Administered by Maxim health care professionals, the clinics will be held through Feb. 25.

Additionally, all of the retailer's pharmacies will sell Omron blood pressure ComFit monitors in February. The ComFit monitor features a universal cuff that takes accurate readings for most arm sizes. An AC adaptor and 4 AA batteries are included with the purchase of the monitor.

"High blood pressure increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, both leading causes of death in the US," noted Martha Johnson, Stop & Shop's director of clinical services and marketing for pharmacy operations, in a statement. "Stop & Shop's blood pressure campaign will help our customers recognize and control these risks."
