Stonyfield Farm Launches Blogs to Connect with Consumers, Employees

LONDONDERRY, N.H. - In an effort to generate discussion, solicit opinions and gauge what's on the minds of customers, friends, and anyone else who cares to share, Stonyfield Farm this month launched five Web logs, or blogs.

Londonderry, N.H.-based Stonyfield Farm claims it is one of the first consumer food companies to enter so fully into the new medium of blogging.

"We want to invite people into our company on a daily basis, because we have a particular view of the world," said Gary Hirshberg, Stonyfield president and c.e.o. "Our blogs give us an opportunity to do that, to encourage readers to join in the dialogue with us. They find something new and opinionated on our site every day."

The blogs are prominently featured on Stonyfield's recently redesigned web site, www.stonyfield.com.

"There's so much more than making yogurt going on at Stonyfield -- we're involved in lots of programs addressing issues ranging from healthy food in schools to empowering women to environmental challenges that we know our customers want to learn more about," Hirshberg said. "We want to give them a place to share their thoughts, get their questions answered, be entertained, maybe meet other yogurt enthusiasts, and provide them with helpful information. And, yes, in the end, we hope this helps continue to build on our loyal customer base."
