Stater Charities Donates $50K to the County Sheriff Dept.
As part of the 9th Annual Stater Bros. Charities Dave Stockton Heroes Challenge Golf Tournament, Stater Bros. Charities made a $50,000 donation to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to expand its community outreach programs.
In addition, Stater Bros. Charities honored Sheriff/Coroner John McMahon and first responders from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department with the prestigious Captain Leland F. Norton Award for their bravery and heroism during the Dec. 2, 2015 tragedy at Inland Regional Center.
"The generous donation from Stater Bros. Charities and Mr. Jack Brown will be used to assist the Sheriff’s HOPE Team,” said McMahon. “The mission of H.O.P.E. is to balance proactive outreach with enforcement of the law, while connecting members of the homeless population with resources that may help them transition from homelessness. The ultimate goal," McMahon continued, "is to reduce the rate of recidivism, incarceration and reduce the current costs associated to homeless related crime."
"As a hometown company, our philosophy has always been that we don't just do business in the community but we are part of the community, and that's something we believe in very strongly,” affirmed Stater Bros. Markets Executive Chairman Jack Brown. “This donation in honor of Sheriff/Coroner John McMahon and first responders from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department demonstrates Stater Bros.’ ongoing support to the valued communities it serves,” Brown added.
