Sprouts Details Q1 2017 Expansion
Sprouts Farmers Market will add 36 stores to its footprint in 2017, eight of which will open in the first quarter, including its first locations in Florida and North Carolina, furthering its southeastern expansion.
The stores to open in the first quarter will be located in Carrollwood, Fla.; Decatur, Ga.; Falls of Neuse, N.C.; Folsom, Calif.; LaVerne, Calif.; Marietta, Ga.; Prescott, Ariz.; and Wichita, Kan. Each will provide 100 new jobs to local neighborhoods.
All new stores will feature Sprouts staple departments, including fresh produce, bulk foods, dairy, meat, seafood, bakery, deli, vitamins and body care. Customers in each will find a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables; barrels of grains, nuts and sweets; fresh-baked goods; an in-house butcher, who will provide special cuts of meat, seafood seasoning and handcrafted sausages made daily; and thousands of natural, organic and gluten-free products.
As with all of its other stores, Sprouts, through its Sprouts Food Rescue Program, will donate unsold and edible – but not marketable – groceries from the new locations to local food banks. Relief agencies pick up this food and distribute it to families in need. In 2015, Sprouts stores and distribution centers donated approximately 14 million pounds of food, the equivalent of 12 million meals, reducing hunger and the company’s environmental footprint.
Phoenix-based Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. operates more than 240 stores in 13 states and employs more than 23,000 team members.
