SpartanNash Launches Comedy-Driven TV Ads
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based SpartanNash has launched a pair of humorous television spots to tout its “Yes Rewards” shopper loyalty programs.
Produced by Chicago-based Utopic and created by Holland, Mich.-based Fairly Painless Advertising, the two 30-second “Hugs” and “Digital Coupons” spots deliver the campaign’s central message with humor and wit.
Utopic’s comedy director, Al Wyatt, captured hilarious footage during a two-night shoot in Grand Rapids. Both spots feature two Spartan employees brainstorming about the best way to show their appreciation for their customers while improving their shopping experience. Although the initial ideas and banter plays like a comedy sketch, Wyatt said the employees ultimately deliver the spots’ messages and introduce the ‘Yes Rewards Program’ with clarity and humor.
SpartanNash is expected to launch related additional spots later this year.
SpartanNash is the largest food distributor serving military commissaries and exchanges in the United States. The company currently operates 177 supermarkets, primarily under the banners of Family Fare, No Frills, Bag ‘n Save and Econofoods.
