SpartanNash Expands C&C Program

08/29/2017

Retailer-wholesaler SpartanNash has rolled out its Fast Lane click-and-collect service to 10 more locations, following its launch at its first location, a Grandville, Mich., Family Fare store, in mid-July.

Developed and expanding in partnership with Unata, a Toronto-based provider of one-to-one digital solutions for grocers, Fast Lane is expected to continue expanding over the next few years, growing to up to 50 stores in Michigan by the end of 2017. SpartanNash's new digital customer experience allows shoppers to both plan their in-store shopping and make click-and-collect orders on one interconnected website, seamlessly switching between the two methods of shopping without losing their product selections.

"Our click-and-collect program takes our company's digital customer experience to a whole new level,” said Larry Pierce, SpartanNash EVP of merchandising and marketing. “The entire Fast Lane experience is tailored to fit the needs of our on-the-go store guests while providing quality products at an affordable price."

Annual memberships for Fast Lane are $99 per year, and monthly memberships are $16.95 per month. Individual orders of any size can be placed at familyfarefastlane.com for a $9.95 pick fee, which is waived under annual or monthly memberships.

Orders are then shopped by a team of Fast Lane personal shoppers – Family Fare associates – who focus on selecting quality items from each aisle of the store. Customers can also include notes for Fast Lane shoppers to follow, allowing them to request green bananas, thick-sliced ham from the deli. or the expiration date on a carton of milk. Those with Yes loyalty accounts – and repeat Fast Lane shoppers – will automatically have their preferences loaded into their Fast Lane accounts, making it even easier to select commonly purchased items or sort by department, sale items or dietary restrictions when placing an order.

Unata's one-to-one personalization engine powers SpartanNash's eCommerce catalogue, weekly ad, promotions and digital offers, as well as integrates its Yes loyalty program, where both Fast Lane and Yes Loyalty members automatically have their preferences loaded into their Fast Lane account. This makes it more convenient to build their shopping cart.

Based in Grand Rapids, Mich., SpartanNash serves customer locations in 47 states and Washington, D.C., as well as Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Bahrain and Egypt. It operates 151 supermarkets, primarily under the Family Fare Supermarkets, Family Fresh Market, D&W Fresh Market and SunMart banners.
