SpartanNash Acquires Dan’s Supermarket
SpartanNash is buying Dan’s Supermarket, a six-unit chain based in Bismarck-Mandan, N.D. The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based wholesaler previously purchased two Dan’s locations in Dickinson in 2013.
"SpartanNash has previously shown us in Dickinson that they will be dedicated to continuing to provide quality stores to our customers and being a good responsible local citizen," according to a statement from Dan's.
Dan’s Supermarket’s Chairman of the Board Terrance Rockstad and CEO Dennis Bosch will both retire. All employees will retain their jobs under SpartanNash and the stores will continue under the Dan’s Supermarket name.
“SpartanNash is excited to welcome Dan’s Supermarket into our family," SpartanNash CEO Dennis Eidson said in a statement. "We have enjoyed serving the Dickinson community and look forward to the opportunity to provide the Bismarck-Mandan area with quality products, competitive pricing, exceptional customer service and community support."
SpartanNash will now distribute its products to those stores from its Fargo distribution center, replacing Supervalu, the previous wholesaler.
