Spartan Stores Funds New Local YMCA
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Spartan Stores Foundation here made a $3 million donation for the building of a new YMCA along Kent County's South Beltline in the Byron Center/M-6 area.
The exact location of the facility, to be named the "Spartan Stores YMCA,” has not yet been determined.
Craig Sturken, Spartan's chief executive, said the partnership is a good fit because both organizations share the same focus on building healthy families. "The Spartan Stores YMCA will leave a lasting legacy that will help ensure good health and well-being for everyone in its service area," Sturken was quoted as saying in local reports.
