Smithfield Hams It Up on Broadway

Smithfield breaks out in song and dance in their new holiday commercial, choreographed by none other than Michael Rooney, son of the infamous Mickey Rooney. With all the hustle and bustle of holiday meal preparations, it often feels like a big production, pointed out in the commercial with nothing short of a Broadway number.

Billed as a fresh approach for the Smithfield, Vir-based packer, the new commercial commands attention with a musical production that is a tribute to the “holiday host” and all they do to make the holidays and our holiday meals truly special.

In a spot that depicts the CEO of the household in retro fashion, recently made popular by shows like Mad Men and Pan Am, Smithfield captures the passion and effort of the “holiday host” to make everything perfect.

“People put an enormous effort and commitment into the holiday meal,” says Will Brunt, Smithfield Packing Co.’s VP of marketing. “We believe they will want to buy a ham from a company that shares their commitment.”

The new holiday spots will run through Friday, December 23, 2011, via:60s and :30s in targeted DMAs throughout the country.
