ShopRite's Wholesome Pantry Brand Earns PLMA Awards

ShopRite’s recently introduced store brand, Wholesome Pantry, has received two Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) 2017 Salute to Excellence Awards. Wholesome Pantry Organic Spring Mix Salad and Wholesome Pantry Creamy Almond Butter garnered awards in the Healthy Eating and Natural Foods and Spreads categories, respectively.

“We are honored that Wholesome Pantry has been singled out for these prestigious awards by the PLMA,” said Loren Weinstein, ShopRite’s director of private label/branding. “With Wholesome Pantry, we are providing our customers with an innovative product line that answers the call for accessible, affordable and delicious organic and free-from options.”

According to PLMA, more than 560 private label products were evaluated across 52 categories under its awards program. The winning items will appear on the trade organization’s website in late October, as well as being showcased at the Private Label Trade Show, scheduled for Nov. 12-14 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill.

Rolled out in December 2016 and promoted with an integrated marketing campaign, Wholesome Pantry was conceived as an accessible alternative for customers seeking cleaner ingredients and simpler labeling. The brand’s free-from line includes products excluding 110 ingredients and containing no artificial additives, flavors or preservatives. The organic line is USDA-certified organic and complies with the USDA National Organic Program’s standards.

The brand is also available at ShopRite’s sister banner, the corporately owned Price Rite Supermarkets chain.
