Shop 'n Save Jingle Contest Crowns Local Winner
St. Louis-based Shop ’n Save awarded a local resident a $1,000 gift card and bragging rights for his winning entry in a jingle contest the chain recently hosted.
O’Fallon, Mo., resident Aaron Lane's country rendition of, “The more you shop, the more you save at Shop ’n Save,” strummed on an acoustic guitar, is featured in a local radio spot. In addition, Lane headlined an in-store event at his local O’Fallon Highway K Shop ’n Save store located at 1421 Mexico Loop Road East, where he received his prize, performed his jingle live and led a sing-along.
Lane, who was born with a genetic eye condition called Stargardt’s disease, which caused him to lose his vision, is no stranger to music. Outside of work, Lane writes music and performs with his uncle in a band called Ozark Revival. Together, they perform both original music, as well as classic country and classic rock covers.
“My wife likes to enter contests, and I like music, so this contest was a perfect fit for us,” Lane said. “I played around with the tune for a while, and then we went out in our backyard at home, and my wife filmed the submission video of me singing the Shop ’n Save jingle. I was thrilled when I got the notice that I had won.”
“Aaron’s video stood out for its talent and creativity,” said Chad Ferguson, interim president of Shop ’n Save. “It’s clear he enjoys making music and sharing his gift with others.”
The Shop ’n Save Jingle contest invited participants to submit a video featuring their own original rendition of the Shop ’n Save jingle, “The more you shop, the more you save at Shop ’n Save.” Videos were judged on creative and skillful musical interpretation of the jingle, originality and overall artistic impression and skill, and audience appeal and entertainment value.
Supervalu's Shop ’n Save division operates approximately 50 stores in the metro St. Louis market.
