Sheetz Customer Wins 17-Year Supply of Gas

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sean Quairiere won a tanker truck filled with 8,000 gallons of gasoline in a sweepstakes sponsored by Sheetz Inc. here and MasterCard.

Quairiere's Christmas Eve purchase of last-minute stocking stuffers for his kids was all it took to win the grand prize, which will be fulfilled in the form of Sheetz Z-cards totaling $20,000, which can be used to purchase Sheetz' 100 percent guaranteed petroleum products at any of the company's 321 Mid-Atlantic stores, the c-store chain said.

"We had a lot fun with this contest," said Louie Sheetz, e.v.p. of marketing for his family's eponymous company. "While the gas market has been struggling lately, it has been rewarding to be able to create this kind of customer excitement."

According to the Energy Commission, the average consumer uses 465 gallons of gasoline per year. Based on an average consumption, Quairiere will not have to worry about paying for gas for the next 17 years.

Nine other Sheetz customers will also be fueling for free. As first-prize winners, each will receive the equivalent to 400 gallons -- $1,000 in Sheetz Z-cards. The contest, which ran from Nov. 16 through Dec. 28, 2005, automatically registered any Sheetz customer across Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and North Carolina who paid for their purchases with a MasterCard.

Sheetz customers can now save on gas with cash back awards on every purchase made using a Sheetz MasterCard. And paying by credit card is as easy a "waving" your card in front of the MasterCard PayPass system available at all Sheetz locations.

The family held Sheetz operates 330-plus combo c-stores/gas stations (some with "convenience restaurants") in six states.
