Shaw’s, Star Market Give $500K to Boston Fund
Shaw’s and Star Market’s in-store donation campaign that enabled customers at all 169 company locations to support The One Fund Boston has raised $300,000. Additionally, the New England regional banners are donating another $200,000 to the fund from their shared foundation.
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino launched The One Fund Boston to raise money to help those affected by last month’s Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath.
“Taking care of our communities is important to Shaw’s and Star Market, and it’s truly humbling to see the outpouring from everyone,” said Shane Sampson, president of West Bridgewater, Mass.-based Shaw’s and Star Market. “This donation to The One Fund Boston will help the victims and families impacted by the events around the Boston Marathon.”
The One Fund Boston continues to accept donations online.
