Sendik’s Adds Dan Spain to Produce Team

Sendik’s Food Markets has named Dan Spain its produce director for its 12 stores in southeastern Wisconsin. In his new role, Spain will procure product, build grower relationships and set strategy for Sendik’s produce operations.

“Dan is someone we have done business with, and admired, for many years,” said family co-owner Patrick Balistreri. “He shares our passion for produce and is well respected by growers and partners throughout the country. Because of his experience and industry connections, Dan makes our strong team even stronger.”

The move to produce director marks a return to his roots for Spain, who started his career with Von’s Grocery Co., before becoming director of national accounts for Sunkist Fresh Fruit and then moving onto Kingsburg Orchard. Spain also has been involved with the Produce Marketing Association, United Fresh Fruit Association, Fresh Produce & Floral Council, Southeast Produce Council, Eastern Produce Council and the National Grocers Association.
